Mary Elizabeth (Johnson) Faidiga was born January 23, 1921 in Rothville, Missouri to Charles W. Johnson and Josephine Lyford Johnson and passed away at Mantey Heights Care Center in Grand Junction on January 25, 2018. Reared and educated in Brookfield, Missouri, she married Frank Faidiga from Leadville, Colorado in 1940 and moved to Leadville where they reared their five children.

She was a stay at home Mom until 1967 when she became a widow and entered the workforce. Her employment included work as a cashier, restaurant manager, Avon representative and she retired from Sayer-McKee Drug after 18 years as a cashier.  In 1998 she moved to Clifton, Colorado after 61 years in Leadville. She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Leadville and then St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Palisade, Colorado until her death.

Mary was an accomplished seamstress as well as a gifted crochet artist. Numerous afghans were crocheted for family members, and she was active in the quilting group for several years. Family was the most important part of her life and she made sure she attended all graduations, weddings and other family celebrations. She loved traveling, cooking, baking, gardening, her faith and socializing with friend and family.

She is survived by her daughters Agnes (Fred) Fabian of Leadville and Mary Jo (Earl) Brito of Thorton, Colorado and her son John (Darlene) Faidiga of Grand Junction. Eleven grandchildren include Anthony Fabian, Paul (Lisa) Fabian, Jeff (Jill) Fabian, Monica (Dennis) Baker, Kris Faidiga, Tammy (Mike) Jones, John (Jennifer) Faidiga, Michelle (Jim) Gammill, Melanie (Eric) Gallaher and Joann Faidiga. She is also survived by 21 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her spouse and parents, two sisters and two brothers, and two sons Charles Wayne and Frank Edward Faidiga and granddaughter Helen Faidiga.

Services will be held at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Leadville on Saturday, February 10, 2018 with the Rosary being recited at 10:30 a.m. and the Funeral Mass following at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the Elks Lodge after the Funeral. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Helping Hands of Lake County, PO Box 8, Leadville, Colorado 80461 or Hope West Hospice, 3090 North 12th Street, Unit B, Grand Junction, Colorado 81506.
