James Allen Morgan, 78, passed away on March 6, 2017 at his home in Buena Vista, Colorado. Jim was born September 17, 1938 in Sugar City, Colorado to Lonnie and Doris (Johnson) Morgan. He was raised in Victor, Colorado and graduated from Fredrick High School in 1957. He met Betty Lee and they were married in Colorado Springs in 1958. Following that, Jim and Betty had a son, James Jr. who preceded him in death in 2012. Jim served in the United States Army for two years. Jim and Betty moved to Leadville where Jim worked at Climax. After seven years at Climax, they moved to Buena Vista where Jim was employed at the Buena Vista Correctional Facility where he worked for 28 years before retirement. He thoroughly enjoyed his retirement, mowing greens at the Buena Vista Golf course.  When he wasn’t mowing, he was playing golf. Jim was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Everyone truly loved him because of his amazing personality and how much he cared for others. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his son James Jr. and his sister. He is survived by his wife Betty Morgan; brothers Jerry and Lynn; grandchildren Nathan Morgan and Sheila Curtin; great grandchildren Christopher, Haile, Jesse and Elizabeth Morgan, Dakota and Sierra Dobbs, Savannah Morgan, Liberty Shannon and Liam Curtin and his best friend Taco the dog.
A Memorial Service will be held this summer.
